Software Engineer

Due to our collaborative environment, this position will be located in West Des Moines, Iowa and only local candidates will be considered.
Coviance is looking for a Software Engineer who can design, code, test and implement solutions that ensure a Hell Yeah! User experience. Working in a collaborative environment, you will be be a part of empowered product team that focuses on fixing problems.
What you'll do:

• Participate in peer review code changes while ensuring knowledge transfer is occurring on the changes
• Maintain and improve the existing codebase while being an advocate for improvements to the security, performance, and quality of the codebase (see something, say something)
• Create automated tests for new and existing features
• Build systems with techniques like Test-Driven Development and programming languages and frameworks such as Python, React, JavaScript, Java, and C# (and are open to learning more)
• Follow an API-first approach to solving customer needs
• Design & deploy solutions with containerized microservices using technologies like AWS, Docker, Compose, and Terraform
• Supports programming changes during quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and post-implementation to ensure the integrity of the application.
• Complies with and contributes to standards and procedures to ensure development consistency (e.g. programming standards, change management, version control).
• Support on-call response to critical operational issues; be able to work beyond normal hours when necessary

Proficiency in technology stack like Python 3, AWS, React, Linux, Docker, Bash Shell Scripting, SQL (AWS RDS), and Git are required to be successful in this role.
