Department Overview

This is an opportunity for you to use software and data engineering skills to enable cybersecurity to protect the people that protect us. Our customers are first responders. Fire, police, and paramedics; 911 call takers and 911 dispatchers. And when we or our loved ones place that 911 call, we become the customer of our customers. We want that call to be answered, and we want the communications between the dispatcher and the first responder to be available. But what if that 911 call center, or the communications link to the responders in the field, were under attack? What if you or your loved ones' call to 911 went unanswered, or they were unable to dispatch paramedics to your location, because they had been taken down by ransomware? This is not just theoretical; it is happening. First responders and 911 call centers are under attack around the globe, and this is a chance to fight back.
Job Description

Your Responsibilities

• Responsible for building security-focused web applications

• Have a passion for self-growth and a strong focus on career development 

• Support security projects and initiatives

• Collaborate with other teams to accomplish shared objectives

• Should be a self-starter who demonstrates ability to complete tasks in a timely manner

• Strong team player with the ability to work with a geographically dispersed team

Specific Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of software development and modern programming languages (Python, JS)

• Data engineering (building data pipelines, analyzing and organizing data, data ingestion and quality checks)

• Cloud architecture, specifically AWS S3 buckets and serverless functions

• Comfortable working with APIs

• Familiar with common data structures such as JSONs and CSV’s

• Familiar with relational and graph databases a plus

• Basic knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts

• Basic knowledge of deploying to and debugging applications in Kubernetes a plus

• Familiar with front-end presentation frameworks such as React, Plotly Dash

• 3-5 years of software development experience

NOTE: CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA.

This role is hybrid with expectations of coming into the office 1-2 times a week!

Basic Requirements

• Bachelors Degree with 3+ years of software engineering/developer experience

• OR Masters Degree with 0+ years of software engineering/ developer experience

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
