The Sona Services Infrastructure team is responsible for helping engineers to build and maintain highly reliable services. The team focuses on building a reliable, extensible, and observable infrastructure foundation. 

At Sona, we pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality data and insights to our customers. We’re looking for engineering leaders who can drive the technical vision of Sona’s data services infrastructure which serves as a foundation for other Sona applications and derivative datasets. This role requires an individual with strong business and technical knowledge, an interest in understanding customer problems, and an acumen to evolve layers of our stack in the least disruptive way possible.

You're role will have a high impact on the development and direction of the core product.

• Work closely with product, engineering, and development teams to design, build, and maintain systems

• Troubleshoot issues across the entire Sona technology stack

• Plan for the growth of Sona’s infrastructure

• Proactively identifying and addressing system reliability risks

• Working alongside regional and global team members

• Plan and build automation processes to debug complex issues

   

• 3+ years of professional experience in service infrastructure, reliability engineering, software engineering, or systems engineering

• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals

• Systems thinking — their edge cases, failure modes, and lifecycles

• Experience working with relational databases

• Experience in distributed systems at scale with regard to testing, reliability, security, and observability

• Ability to write high-quality code in at least one programming language such as PHP, Python, Java

• Good communication skills, including being able to explain technical concepts to non-technical peers

   

Good to Have: 

• Experience in a startup environment

• Experience working with cloud services

• Advanced knowledge of relational databases and cloud infrastructure

• Building systems with the AWS ecosystem is a plus

• A strong desire to continuously learn and grow
