SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Job Location: 100 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10013

Duties: Analyze and gather software requirements and engineer/optimize quantitative computer software systems. Assess, design, and implement dynamic front-end and back-end functionalities and software systems and engineer dependable and functional user software interfaces to support the success of the firm's quantitative computer-based electronic Alpha Capture business. Identify, analyze, and address computer software performance bottlenecks. Participate in computer system design, engineering and code analysis reviews. Engineer and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest and export data that are required or produced by these software systems. Integrate these datasets into downstream tools and software for subsequent storage, analysis and research. Define and communicate best practices for web-based computer software system user interfaces across the firm.

Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related Information Technology field.

Skills required: Must have knowledge of the following computer skills and technologies: object-oriented programming (Java or C++), including writing unit tests and functional tests; SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL server); data structures and algorithms and their application in real-world problem solving; ability to engineer web services and design and implement REST services based on JSON; scripting in Python and Unix shell scripts; ability to engineer Unix-based environments; Version control systems (Git); managing cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web Services using Terraform; building web front-ends using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React; and software engineering development tools including IntelliJ IDEA. Must also pass firm's required skills assessment.

Base salary: The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $325,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
