Software Engineer

Job Description

LS Technologies, LLC is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to provide support in the areas of business rule development, integration, test, and deployment, supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Business rules will be developed around Flight and Flow Information for a Collaborative Environment (FF-ICE) guidance and will be deployed in a cloud-based environment. Candidate would be a reliable self-starter who can contribute and grow with our organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, test, and deploy business rules
• Create and/or modify REST APIs
• Support internal and external stakeholders as needed
• Establish productive working relationships and maintain effective communications with teammates and FAA

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant software engineering experience
• Experience in developing and coding business rules
• Experience in unit and integration testing of business rules
• Experience in deploying business rules to an integration and test cloud environment
• Experience working with REST APIs and using tools like POSTMAN to invoke and understand the functionality behind the APIs under test.
• Experience using GIT repository
• Demonstrated experience in working with software developers to define application architecture/best practices.
• Strong communication skills to interface with customers, as well as collaborate in a cross-discipline team environment, are required.
• Ability to operate in an environment with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated history of independently delivering high-quality and maintainable solutions and processes.
• Strong attention to detail, well-organized, and ability to self-prioritize, manage and adjust multiple tasks as the project evolves is required.
• Ability to clearly and concisely document test procedures and results for repeatability or troubleshooting by other software developers

Desired Experience

• Intermediate experience in developing and coding business rules in Drools
• Intermediate experience in developing Java applications and APIs
• Intermediate experience in testing Java applications and APIs
• Intermediate experience in testing Drools business rules
• Intermediate experience with Integrated Development Environments (ex: Eclipse, IntelliJ, Lens)
• Experience integrating with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience managing/monitoring Kubernetes clusters
• Experience with creating and deploying Docker containers
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
• Experience with AWS cloud tools (ex: Elastic Kubernetes Service, Elastic Container Registry, EC2, CodeArtifact, CodeCommit, CodePipeline)
• Experience performing data analytics and creating dashboards utilizing ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)
• Working database knowledge (e.g., SQL queries)
• Working microservices knowledge
• Previous experience with the FAA and National Airspace System is a bonus

Education

• Bachelor's degree - preferred field in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems or related field.

Location

• Washington, DC - Hybrid (in office as required for customer meetings)
