INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (Software Engineer)

SALARY RANGE $80,000 - $95,000

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, with some latitude for un-reviewed action, engages in full-stack development to assist in the creation of a cloud-based Internet of Things (IOT) asset management system. Deals with handling telemetric data from multiple types of remote assets as well as assisting in the definition and creation of interfaces for new embedded IoT asset-monitoring hardware. May provide technical guidance and assistance to other Cornell Engineers by performing duties outlined below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Integrate embedded systems into cloud-based monitoring platform.
  • Define and implement hardware abstraction layers.
  • Integrate ERP software (such as Epicor or SAP) and data therein into displayed data.
  • Help define and build interfaces from edge to cloud and shape user experience.
  • Assist other computer and electrical engineers building components in the cloud platform.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years minimum professional experience
  • 1 year of programming experience relational databases (MySQL preferred)
  • 1 year of programming experience in Python
  • 1 year of programming experience in React.

USEFUL ADDITIONAL FAMILIARITY

  • Cloud development, Amazon Web Service (AWS)
  • Experience writing or consuming RESTful Interface services.
  • TypeScript development
  • Shell script development (Microsoft PowerShell and/or Bash)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD Deployment pipelines

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer/Electrical Engineering or related fields
