The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Product Initiative develops new digital services for identity and fraud prevention. The team spans the full cross-functional space from research, product definition, development, and go to market. This is a veteran group with multiple successful product launches using AI and ML. We're seeking a Software Engineer-AI/ML with experience in algorithms, data, and cloud infrastructure. Our stack is golang and pyspark spanning both AWS and GCP with a microservices architecture. We use Terraform for infrastructure as code and our pipelines are in GitLab. The team is self-organizing with opportunities to contribute across architecture, development, data science, and operations. In addition to developing new products, our mandate includes experimenting to find best practices for AI/ML within the company as a whole.

What you'll do:

• Apply software development and testing best practices and demonstrate excellent craftsmanship to produce maintainable, scalable, and quality code.
• Contribute to all phases of product development and delivery from Analysis & Design all the way through to successful Deployment.
• Understand business objectives and develop microservices to achieve those objectives along with metrics to track progress.
• Collaborate with data scientists to productionize machine learning models with performant data transformations, storage, and pipelines.
• Demonstrate effective, respectful, and honest communication when collaborating with colleagues including a cross-functional team consisting of QA, Operations, and other team members.
• Deliver on company initiatives and projects prioritized for your team and support long term technical vision.
• Collaborate with the product team, architects, and others to document features and changes.
• Participate in peer design and code reviews.
• Design platforms and pipelines for training and running machine learning models.

What experience you need :

• 3+ years of expert programming skill in golang (preferred), Rust, Kotlin, Java, C++, or another modern language
• 3+ years of experience in implementing microservices in either AWS or GCP
• 3+ years of experience in handling data types through interfaces and pipelines while preserving integrity for data-sensitive applications like machine learning, search, and matching
• 2+ years of strong understanding of algorithms and data structures

What could set you apart:

• Experience with real time constraints from applications such as payment fraud risk assessment, robotics, conversational natural language processing, or real-time computer vision/signal processing.
• Data processing and statistical analysis techniques (e.g. Bayesian analysis, accuracy metrics, natural language processing), supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms (both classification and regression; e.g. support vector machines, neural networks, decision trees, ensemble models), and data visualization and communication techniques.
