Software Engineer / Analyst - Entry Level

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is currently seeking to hire a candidate to help support the development and analysis of several advanced air and missile defense simulation systems in Huntsville Alabama. Our mission is to understand and analyze missile defense systems through these simulations in order to advance capabilities in battle management and fire control. Candidates with an interest in missile defense systems, data analysis, and software development will make for a great fit. The engineer must be willing and able to dive deep into the existing codebase to analyze system behavior with the intent of making system improvements, identify potential issues and analyze performance.

The desired candidate will have experience in the following:
• Experience with a wide range of coding languages (Python, Java, C/C++, etc.)
• Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms
• Competence with version control systems, such as Git
• Strong analytic and communication skills
• Strong desire and ability to work in a team environment

Job Requirements

Experience in the following is a bonus:

• Matplotlib, Pandas, Plotly
• Performing statistical analysis with Python and Python-based tools.
• Relational databases (e.g. SQLite)

Candidate should have a Bachelors' degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Position requires candidate to be a US citizen and be able to acquire a secret level security clearance. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
