A little about us:
Yahoo's Media Growth team provides easy subscription, ads, marketing and commerce integration and support across the Yahoo ecosystem with capabilities to enhance user experience by serving targeted and non-intrusive offers that can be quickly tweaked without much engineering efforts. We also provide user activity data and profiles to the downstream systems for campaign targeting in both realtime and batch modes at Yahoo scale. This is all to create the most relevant end-to-end experiences and offers for members across the ecosystem, while driving the most value/yield for the business. An increase in engagement through personalization, right offer/content at the right time, and great consumer experience should drive lift in all of our goals including user engagement, subscription numbers and revenue.
A lot about you:
As a software engineer on our core backend infrastructure team, you will be working with product managers and other software engineers in agile teams to build our next-generation configuration management API's, web serving layers (ads/offers) at scale and our data activation big data pipelines by implementing business-critical features and setting standards that will help define the future products.

• Design, build and maintain scalable and robust web services
• Performance optimizations on the backend with highly challenging SLAs
• Ensure system responsiveness, robustness and high availability on our API's
• Directly impact our generated revenue by implementing critical business features
• Improve our CI/CD pipeline to ensure constant production delivery of high-quality features
• Participate in design and code reviews and facilitate quality and performance improvements
• Improve our automated tests suite in terms of speed and accuracy
• Work on our realtime and batch data pipelines
• Work with the production engineering / infrastructure team to drive resolution to production issues.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrated expertise with Java and related technologies, eg. Spring/Jersey etc.
• Understanding of Java/J2EE and other supporting back-end technologies
• Experience with unit and integration testing and writing clean code
• Understanding of REST APIs, OOP, and related standard methodologies
• Proficient knowledge of relational database techniques and no-sql high performance data stores
• Delivered results in a fast-paced environment that requires ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as on a team
• Plus to have experience in custom ETL design using Big Data stack environments (Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, AWS EMR, Apache Beam, Google Cloud Platform Dataflow, BigQuery)
• Plus to have experience or familiarity with either of the tools : kafka, storm, spark streaming, druid

If hired for this position in Colorado, the compensation range for this position is between $79,500.00 - $132,500.00. The compensation may vary depending on your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include additional incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, plus equity incentives.
