Software Engineer - Billing

Perplexity is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design and implement next-generation billing systems. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing startup and help revolutionize the way people search and interact online.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead new feature development to enable Perplexity’s growing billing needs
• Drive continuous improvements to the reliability, performance, accuracy, and security of our billing system
• Collaborate with peers across engineering, customer success, finance, and data science teams to ensure precise measurement and reporting
• Build in-product dashboards to visualize usage and billing
• Build tools to proactively monitor user experience and improve customer success
• Build tools to create and track discount codes and promos

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience using the Stripe APIs and SDKs
• Familiarity with payment networks, card authorizations, policies, invoicing, subscriptions, disputes, and refunds
• Experience working with large amounts of data, making data-based decisions to prioritize projects, including familiarity with relational and non-relational databases and modern data warehousing
• Knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles
• Strong programming skills with the ability to work across the full stack
• Proven track record in similar billing roles
• Self-motivated with a willingness to take ownership of tasks
• A passion for shipping quality products
• 4+ years of industry experience

Nice to have

• Experience working with Apple and Google Play billing processes
• Experience with growth experimentation

Our cash compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $230,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity is part of the total compensation package.
