The Data Platforms and Architectures Department develops data analysis pipelines, tools and platforms to enable the full exploitation of historical and streaming data sets for a variety of civil and national security space customers. This position is a hybrid work model and works mostly remotely with occasional (1-2 times a month) onsite work required in El Segundo, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; or Chantilly, VA. There is also an option for full-time onsite if desired.
What You'll Be Doing

• Learning by doing: Expand your knowledge and skills to become a cloud native developer through hands on development, mentorship, and classes
• Developing cloud native applications to solve some of the toughest problems currently facing the space enterprise
• Working with and learning from a group of developers and subject matter experts to support a broad array of space-related projects and advance your own skills
• Leveraging the cloud to provide data engineering and data architecture solutions as our customers' data volumes continue to grow at exponential rates
• Interfacing with project leaders, product owners, and customers to convey your key contributions to a project
• Pitching new project ideas to address emerging technology focus areas and lead your project as the principal investigator
• Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers

This position can be filled as a Software Engineer - Cloud Development: Member of Technical Staff (MTS) or Sr. Member of Technical Staff (Sr. MTS)
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Software Engineer - Cloud Development (MTS):

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• 2 or more years of industry experience
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python and/or Java
• Experience using Git for source control
• Course work in data structures and algorithms
• Experience developing in Linux environments
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Minimum Requirements for Software Engineer - Cloud Development (Sr. MTS):

• All of the above requirements for Member of Technical Staff
• 5 or more years of professional industry experience

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD from an accredited program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering)
• Cloud native application development experience using Docker
• Familiarity with utilizing and creating APIs
• Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of C or C++
• Experience with AWS
• Knowledge of data architectures and platforms
• Familiarity with microservice architectures

Grade-Based Pay Range
(Min - Mid - Max)
$88,000 - $95,500 - $103,000
