Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. 

Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live across four continents, with more than 50 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. 

This role is located Espoo, Finland where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. 

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

As a Cloud Native Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications in a cloud environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create robust and reliable services that integrate seamlessly into Skylo’s cloud infrastructure, with a particular focus on leveraging Pub/Sub technologies to enable real-time data streaming and event-driven architectures.

How You Will Contribute 

• Develop and design scalable, high-performance, and secure cloud-native applications to supplement Skylo Core Network.
• Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs to support a variety of services and applications
• Implement and maintain Pub/Sub messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Google Pub/Sub) to enable real-time data processing and event-driven communication.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize application performance and scalability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes with a strong DevOps mindset.
• Actively participate in reviews with strong intent to align application software design with end-to-end feature specifications.

What We Look For 

• Minimum 5 years software engineering / development experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry.
• Proficiency in Go Programming Language and Python. Experience with RUST is desired but not required.
• Strong experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with Pub/Sub messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Google Pub/Sub.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g.Google Cloud, AWS) and cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and experience in building microservices-based applications.
• Experience with both relational (e.g. postgres) and NoSQL databases (e.g. redis)
• Knowledge and implement security best practices in cloud environments.
