Software Engineer (ETL, Data Lake)

Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for an ETL Software Engineer to join our Data Lake team. This role involves developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and contributing to our extensive data infrastructure. As an ETL Software Engineer, you will collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, and Scrum team members to deliver high quality technical solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in transforming and orchestrating massive data sets, creating impactful solutions that drive innovation and efficiency for our clients' businesses.
What You'll Do

• Collaborate with your team on development and testing to deliver new features
• Design, implement, and maintain efficient and reliable data pipelines through extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities
• Utilize tools like Debezium, GCP stack (including Pub/Sub and Dataflow), BigQuery, and SQL for managing and processing large-scale data
• Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and deploy RESTful services and APIs on Google Cloud
• Participate in design discussions to align your work with the technical vision
• Author code aligned with internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices.

What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

• Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python, Golang, SQL, and experience with GCP data and ETL stack tools (Debezium, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery) or equivalent technologies of experience in ETL development and data engineering
• Experience in implementing RESTful services and APIs
• Knowledge of Agile frameworks, ideally Scrum, and tools like Jira and Confluence
• Ability to communicate in a team-oriented environment to clarify requirements and deliver solutions within committed timelines
• Proven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities
• Bachelor-level degree in Computer Science, MIS, or CIS, or equivalent experience
