The Role – Software Engineer 

This permanent position is part of a Sixth Street’s growing technology team based in Austin, TX, Dallas, TX and New York, NY. We are building a cloud native (AWS) stack from the ground up to automate complex business processes across our firm. We are obsessed with infrastructure as code, automation, testing, and shipping code. This is an opportunity to help shape the frameworks and patterns that we use to deliver quality software into the hands of our users.  

About our Product and Stack  

• We are automating complex Expense and Accounting workflows to streamline work for our internal users  
• We are heavily Python / AWS Lambda centric with an eye toward containerization  
• We use Github Actions for CI/CD  
• We use Cloudformation and CDK for Infrastructure as Code 

Core Responsibilities  

• Work within an agile team, designing and developing software components and systems  
• Full ownership of software components and services from design to post-production monitoring  
• Work with tools like GitHub, Jira, Docker, Snowflake, Postgres, and various AWS offerings

Preferred  

• 5+ years’ experience in professional software development. Degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred  
• Excellent programming skills in a major programming language. Python experience preferred
• Experience working with relational and “NoSQL” data stores
• Passion for CI/CD and shipping well-engineered code in a repeatable and reliable way.
• Comfortable working in a Unix shell Curiosity and hunger to keep learning 
• Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail 
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities 
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams 
• Strong prioritization and project management skills 
• Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
