Software Engineer – Frameworks, Tools, and Automation

The Role

This is a full-time role based in Austin, TX. We are building a cloud native (AWS) stack from the ground up to automate complex business processes across our firm. We are obsessed with infrastructure as code, automation, testing, and shipping code. In this role you will shape the frameworks and patterns that developers use to deliver quality software into the hands of our users.

About our Stack 

• AWS centric: Lambda, Fargate ECS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Elasticache 
• Github Actions for CI/CD 
• CDK for Infrastructure as Code 
• Backend stacks are Python-centric (with some Java and some Julia); Front ends are TypeScript/React 

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software core libraries, examples, and template applications 
• Develop and promote patterns for scalable and secure application development and delivery 
• Help shape our Software Supply Chain, including AWS platform and primitives

Preferred

• 7+ years’ experience in professional software development.  Degree in Computer Science or STEM field preferred  
• Excellent programming skills in a major programming language. Python experience strongly preferred   
• Passion for CI/CD and shipping well-engineered code in a repeatable and reliable way.  
• Experience designing RESTful APIs 
• Experience working with relational and “NoSQL” data stores  
• Comfortable working in a Unix shell  
• Curiosity and hunger to keep learning 
• Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail 
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities 
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams 
• Strong prioritization and project management skills 
• Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
