Software Engineer, Front End

Position Purpose
The product engineering team's mission is to deliver and maintain software solutions that drive revenue and improve the traveler experience provided by SmarterTravel products. As a key team member, this person will ensure site stability as traffic increases along with our revenue goals. As a Front End developer, this role is responsible for building a world-class travel website using Gatsby and React.js. The developer will use their research and problem-solving skills to help us create dynamic user-centric web interfaces. As a front-end engineer at SmartTravel, this role will bring knowledge to design websites. This role should have experience working with the back-end team to build complex user interactions from scratch or within existing frameworks.
Role & Responsibility

• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, designers, and other engineers to build, iterate, and ship new features to advance the SmarterTravel products inline with overall business objectives.
• Drive front end engineering best practices, such as automated testing, CI/CD and documentation with a focus on maintainability, usability, scalability and performance.
• Follow the company's development, operational standards, and processes and strive to make them better.
• Create documentation for successful knowledge transfer and onboarding of new employees.
• Design UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.
• Adhere to style standards on typography and graphic design.

Education/Experience

• 2+ years of relevant work experience, building responsive user interfaces
• A B.S. in Computer Science, or related field
• A passion for personal growth and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly
• Experience with the technologies commonly used in our environment is required: JavaScript/TypeScript, React, GIT
• An eye for UI layout & design would be awesome but not required
• Experience implementing A/B tests
• An understanding of how to code accessibility into a website
• Nice to haves: Gatsby.js, Performance Optimization (front-end), Python, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Ruby, SQL
