Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, or Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a workspace in KrakĂłw.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for an experienced Front-End Engineer to join our Identity team. The Identity team has an important mission impacting millions of Grammarly users. The team is responsible for how people sign in to and sign up for Grammarly every day and for a variety of complex systems that work behind the scenes to ensure that no user account gets compromised. The team works on a massive scale, has to leverage a lot of data, runs many experiments, and constantly adapts to match ever-changing external threats.

Your impact

The Identity and Authentication team at Grammarly provides Customer and Identity Access Management solutions across our whole business that is designed to manage customer identities. It’s responsible, at scale, for login and authentication, data privacy, and providing a fast, frictionless and secure customer experience.

As a Front-End engineer, you will 

  • Within your first 30 days, you will work with team members and peer on other teams to develop a complete understanding of Grammarly’s web architecture & technologies. You will also review changes from other engineers and develop an understanding of the deployment/testing/release process. 
  • Within the first three months, you’ll ship a new user-facing feature offering our users additional security controls or additional challenges to prevent unauthorized.
  • Within the first six months, you will form an opinion on the technical challenges and areas for improvement in our codebase. You will also propose new ideas for user-facing features and experiments.
We’re looking for someone who
  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Is able to collaborate in person 2 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
  • Has at least five combined years working as a Web Front-end or Client (.NET, Swift, Kotlin) engineer.
  • Has strong foundational knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS).
  • Has expertise in modern front-end frameworks (React experience preferred).
  • Has well-developed product intuition and strong user empathy.
  • Has strong technical acumen and the ability to tackle ambiguous problems.
  • Has general knowledge of security best practices for web applications. And interested in diving deep into the security and identity domains and learning about various standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SSO, SCIM) and vulnerabilities (CSRF, injections, XSS).

  • For Colorado-based employment: The salary range for this position is $111,000 - $239,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
