Software Engineer - Guest & Host

The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) team’s mission is to make Airbnb the most visible and best destination for search engine users. We build world-class products that excite and attract guests along with the tools and platform that enable teams across the company to do the same. We do this at an incredible scale promoting hundreds of thousands of destinations and experiences spanning a broad range of languages and international locales. Being a product infrastructure and growth team we routinely partner with Product UX and Data as well as engineering teams throughout the company to directly influence one of the fastest-growing free and owned marketing channels.

The Difference You Will Make:

We’re looking for talented engineers who can comfortably work across the stack building best-in-class frontend experiences performant and complex backend services and massive scale data pipelines. As a Full Stack Engineer you’ll work closely with product and design architecture and infra leads as well as data analysts to create new types of landing page experiences. Some projects will have you focusing on one particular layer while many others will require you to move across the stack fluidly.

A Typical Day:

• Design develop and own the deployment of stack spanning features to production.

• Independently collaborate with cross functional partners to unblock project progress reduce ambiguity and refine requirements.

• Routinely communicate project status and progress with internal and external stakeholders owning project outcomes.

• Hold yourself and the team to a high standard of quality frequently looking for ways to improve operations and stability.

• Stay up to date on the newest trends and changes in the SEO field.

• Identify and propose new ideas for improving SEO performance of Airbnb’s products and services.

Your Expertise:

• 3+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast paced high growth tech environment.

• Proficient in one or more backend languages and frameworks: Java C# C++ Python Scala Hive Airflow.

• Proficient in one or more JavaScript frameworks: React Backbone Angular or Ember.

• Experience with web development best practices such as A/B testing continuous integration and continuous delivery.

• Ability to work in areas outside of your usual comfort zone and show motivation for personal growth.

• Comfortable working across the stack implementing and shipping changes on both the frontend and backend.

• Experience working directly with cross functional partners in UX and product.

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed to with your manager.
