Software Engineer - Hybrid

Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure division is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid office/remote role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility.

Position Overview:

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and implementing software solutions for advanced three phase power system. In this role, you will work with a global software team developing software for advanced three phase power systems. These systems are rated from ten kilowatts up to several megawatts and are designed to operate in electrical power systems worldwide. The software controls the system operation, implements power conversion algorithms, creates user monitoring data and provides advanced product features. The candidate will work in several of these areas. Responsibilities include analysis, design, implementation and release of the software.

In this function you will:

• Embedded software development using C, C++ for ARM / DSP processors for three phase power systems using agile processes.
• Be a technical leader for product development, responsible for meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals.
• Develop and propose innovative technical solutions to complex problems.
• Work with control system experts to develop algorithms that controls Inverters, Rectifiers and DC/DC converters.
• Analyze existing code modules and techniques to determine advantages and deficiencies.
• Analyze the power system architecture and requirements to develop technical solutions to achieve product requirements.
• Keep track of latest embedded software strategies, processes and tools. Apply knowledge to power electronics applications.
• Develop engineering documentation including software requirements specification, design verification test plans, product configuration specifications, user interface specifications.
• Work with global software team members to develop products and achieve software releases.
• Troubleshoot/debug embedded code and track software and operational "bugs" to closure.
• Lead firmware and functional design reviews at various product development stages.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of four (4) years engineering experience in software/embedded development, electrical design, or power electronics.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Extensive experience in developing, coding and troubleshooting real-time software.
• Extensive experience programming in C, C++, in an embedded environment.
• Understanding of analog and digital circuitry.

Position Success Criteria:

• Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team member on new product development projects.
• Experience with version control repository hosting services such as Bitbucket, SVN
• Experience in three phase power systems, power electronics and power conversion topologies.
• Experience using Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.
• Experience with embedded Linux is a plus.
