What to Expect

Generac Clean Energy is dedicated to delivering revolutionary Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for our residential customers to improve energy reliability and grid independence. Our software and firmware teams enable these systems to provide a seamless battery backup system for our customers, and we're building smart energy management across the home through integrations with Generac's other products.

Our software stack is built on Go, Rust, Java, React, MQTT, and many AWS products. Our approach takes "full-stack" to the next level with teams focused on every layer from firmware to the mobile apps within a single organization at Generac.

We're looking for a Software Engineer to work on our AWS data platform. This part of our system is built in Java, Go, and Python using Flink, Kinesis, MQTT, Protobuf, Clickhouse, Snowflake, Terraform, and CDK. This work bridges the gap between our fleet of systems in the field, and our user-facing apps that need to read telemetry from devices and push settings changes. This is an amazing opportunity to work with

What You'll Do

  • Design, validate, implement, and test web services on AWS such as APIs and stream processing applications.
  • Write high-level integration tests to prove your solutions.
  • Own your projects from end to end; be your own project manager.
  • Interface with firmware teams, embedded software teams, and mobile/web app teams as needed to validate your designs and understand your requirements.

What You'll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering, Computer Science field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with several products or services on at least one major cloud provider.
  • Experience in at least one of Go, Java, Rust, or Python.
  • Experience contributing to integration testing pipelines, deployment pipelines, or similar.
  • An eagerness to understand how your work fits into a larger, cross-disciplinary system. You want to understand the systems you interface with.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills. You question your requirements when things don't make sense. You verify your assumptions.
  • A strong drive for learning and mentorship. You seek out feedback and improvement.
