Software Engineer II

This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days.

Role Mission  

To enable Rent’s mission to simplify the rental experience for our customers through the implementation of a seamless user experience across all of our websites, allowing the business to maintain an efficient and sustainable rate of code delivery.

Role Scope 

The Software Engineer - II will report into the Manager and ensure Rent. has bug-free and performant websites to deliver to our users and clients.

Role Expected Outcomes 

The Software Engineer - II will be expected to consistently deliver outcomes in the following:

• Rent. has bug-free and performant applications(s) that are rapid, user-friendly and produce high-quality leads for our clients

• Reusability of the code is ensured through the usage and documentation of appropriate architectural patterns

• Implement consumer road map and features as efficiently as possible

• Diligence, thoughtfulness, and have great oral and written communication skills 

• Demonstrates accountability and ownership for the accurate delivery of all of a features / task requirements

• Proactivity and ability to move fast or pivot to meet the changing needs of the product

General (all languages)

• Good communicator, through listening and expressing their ideas clearly

• Ability to write comprehensive tests

• Diagnose and identify bugs using debugging tools

• Able to work independently

• Mentor other programmers

Minimum

• 3+ years’ industry experience in frontend development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) using frameworks (React, Vue, etc..)

• Hands-on experience with node, npm registries and versioning

Preferred

• Knowledge of architectural patterns of micro frontends

• Experience working with a frontend design system

• Experience with versioning and caching assets in production such as CSS and JS

• Svelte or Next.js / Nest.js / GraphQL experience

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Github Actions and DevOps

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements.

Base Pay Range: $119,600.00 - 161,900.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Depending on the position, compensation may also include commissions, bonuses, and equity. Potential for quarterly bonuses based on company performance. Potential for merit increases and stock grants based on performance.
