ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Apex Fintech Solutions Trade Processing team is looking for an experienced Software Engineer II with a passion for writing great code, the desire to push their skills to the next level, and who is up to the challenge to think at the scale of Apex Clearing's high-volume, high-availability trade clearing suite. We work with some of the industry's hottest next-generation technologies, and you'll be at the center of rapidly scaling services that will test your engineering limits.
Apex engineering teams are charged with building the services our clients love and are at the heart of our future product innovations. We are reimagining our technology and application stack from the ground up, and our team is responsible for building the next generation clearing platform that will lead our industry for years to come. We are seeking smart developers to build out our cloud-native (GCP), event-driven (Apache Kafka) Microservices framework.

What you will do:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, peer-review, and continuously tune high-performance, high-throughput software
- Learn from and apply design techniques and coding standards coached by our Senior Engineers
- Build resilient, self-scaling, self-healing services that allow you to sleep through the night
- Support the production systems that you design. This includes building, deploying (CI/CD), and monitoring (DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus, PagerDuty)
- Write commercial grade, well-tested code, and maintain high code-quality standards across your team through code reviews and other best practices

- Work that matters
The skills you will need to succeed:
- BA, BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field
- 2-4+ years of experience as a software developer or similar job roles
- Proven experience in at least one modern language (Java, Golang, Python, etc.)
- Ability to learn new technologies (languages, tools, frameworks) quickly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a strong plus
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker is a plus
- Experience with Apache Kafka or Google Pub/Sub is a plus
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and coaching other engineers is a plus
- Financial services (capital markets, clearing or accounting systems) background is a plus
