Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is seeking a well-qualified so ft ware engineer to join our New Product Engineering team. The engineer in this role will interact with all business units in NextEra Analy ti cs and will work in all phases of the so ft ware development life cycle, including requirements gathering and re fi nement, system design, implementa ti on, and tes ti ng. Quali fi ed candidates will spend most of their ti me developing so ft ware that helps NEA provide innova ti ve forecas ti ng and op ti miza ti on solu ti ons for the energy industry using a technical stack that aligns best with the problem they are trying to solve. The candidate should also possess the ability to participate in and lead technical discussions, actively contribute in small project teams, and mentor less-experienced team members.

A desire to work with some of the latest and up-and-coming technologies is preferred. Ideal candidates are those that are not afraid to explore new technologies, and who will vocalize their learnings in the event the product or feature calls for it. Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Works with other NextEra Energy teams and customers to develop and deliver industry-leading technology solutions to complex challenges
• Codes in multiple languages in support and development of software products, most recently Python and Vue.js
• Conducts system testing and creates unit tests for new and existing features
• Writes documentation for technical requirements and system architecture
• Participates in agile ceremonies with the product team, including refining product requirements, providing estimates on work, daily standups, and post-sprint reviews and retrospectives
• Collaborates on high level software design projects and software system architecture and creates effective component level architectures
• Assists with software module construction from architecture and design to implementation and is a key contributor on a small team of engineers in building the module
• Mentors junior engineers to ensure the team succeeds together
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Experience being a contributor on a small team of engineers, leading technical discussions
• Involvement in system design and architecture of software systems
• Excellent communication with technical and product colleagues
• One or more years of recent Python and/or Vue/Angular/React experience
• Familiarity of cloud computing, primarily AWS
• Exposure to CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes

Job Overview

This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products. Individuals in this role work with Technical Leads on software system architecture and module design. This position participates in required product development process ceremonies. Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.
