Position Summary

Avantax Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Blucora and sister company to Avantax Planning Partners and TaxAct, is seeking a Software Engineer II that will be responsible for developing key features and capabilities to delight our customers and increase our market share. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Software Engineering Team and work on the next generation of our software applications focused on financial professionals. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• Develops new software applications and performs upgrades and/or fixes to existing operating software applications.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to develop and test software applications.
• Respond to technical requests regarding the assigned application.
• Remain up to date with the latest software and computer technology.
• Works as a member of a software engineering scrum team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent in education and business experience.
• Minimum of 6+ years of software application development experience.
• Experience with Django and a high-level Python Web framework is required.
• Experience with AWS is required.
• Experience with Wagtail is required.
• Experience with Microsoft development stack and development lifecycle tooling (C#, Core, .NET Core, MVC/Web API, REST API, Visual Studio, Git) is required.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML, ViewJS, and CSS.
• Database experience (Postgres and SSIS) is preferred.
• Experience writing Unit tests is required.
• Experience with CI/CD automation pipeline tools and best practices is required.
• Experience in Agile development methodologies and Scrum is preferred.
• Minimum of 6+ years of software application development experience.
• US citizens or Green Card holders only.

• Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
