I Am Abiomed | I Am Heart Recovery | Patients First!

The Abiomed Data Engineering group is a team of developers, designers, testers, and analysts building the data-driven research pipeline for a new generation of life saving medical devices. We are currently hiring a Software Development Engineer to help build our suite of data-driven medical devices. This role will support the design and development of new user interfaces for customer facing devices (both embedded and mobile). In this key role, you will be designing/developing in a collaborative team of engineers following an Agile Scrum process. We are looking for an analytical self-starter with a passion for learning, attention to detail, and is motivated to understand/analyze complex clinical datasets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement design requirements into testable software units.
• Implement UI requirements to display pump/patient data in real-time.
• Extract, Transform, and Display de-identified patient data from EMR/EHR systems.
• Perform unit testing and security testing activities.
• Participate in design and code reviews.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Biological Sciences or Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience with front-end/UI web frameworks (Angular preferred)
• Experience with server-side programming language (C++/C#, Erlang/Elixr, and Python preferred)
• Strong analytic skills working with structured and unstructured data
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Strong communicator who can work across disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with medical devices strongly preferred
• Working knowledge of SQL and/or experience with relational and document-style databases
• Experience with medical data systems (EMR/EHR, EDC, etc.) and medical coding standards (ICD-10, WHODrug, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC, etc.)
• Experience with cloud services (Azure or AWS preferred)
• Experience with Agile Scrum methodology
