Software Engineer II

The Software Engineer II will build and supports custom software solutions for some of the world's largest retailers. Do you have a passion for developing software UIs that drives both development teams and the business?

Become the newest Software Engineer in Toshiba's Digital Platform group. This position will focus on building the front-end applications on top of our cloud native platform using Microservices and Open API. As a Data analytics UI Engineer the candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software applications that provide a user-friendly and visually appealing interface for users to interact with. You will also be responsible to collect, analyze, and interpret large sets of data using various statistical and computational methods to gain insights and inform business decisions and perform data analytics analyst duties.

You'll be working alongside other experienced engineers and developers, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for our platform. Qualified candidates will be forward thinking, self-motivated and bring excellence to the development and customer experience. This position will lead the front-end work of other UI developers both in RTP and in our Mexico development center.

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years' experience or Master's degree in computer science with 2+ years of experience
• 3+ years professional experience in software development
• 3+ years of Web Development experience, particularly customer facing applications.
• Ability to convert UI/UX Flows from the design team into products.
• Experience in creating data models, widgets, graphs and create interactive web dashboards and reports.
• Experience in Collecting, cleaning, mapping, and organizing data from various sources for analysis.
• Experience working on a BI tool like Sisense or Tableau.
• Experience in Interpreting data, identifying patterns and trends, and generating reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Experience in collaborating with business leaders to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth based on data insights.
• Experience building and supporting Web Based products.
• Good technical skills in web development technologies (Ajax, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, XML/JSON)
• Good programming and analytical skills, problem determination and debugging, attention to detail, teamwork and excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of software development concepts/methodology/life cycle, especially Agile methodology
• Familiarity with code versioning tools like Git, SVN, etc.
• Familiarity with Windows- and Linux-based operating systems, including software installation, light administration and simple scripting.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with UI/UX Investigating user experience design requirements for our suite of digital assets.
• Developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand.
• Producing high quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
• Knowledge of Swagger and REST design
• Skills developing and supporting mobile web apps using Apache Cordova
• Sisense experience is Plus.
