We're looking for a Web engineer to join our Frontend Platform team and help take all of Grubhub's Web apps to the next level. The Frontend Platform team creates patterns, practices, tools, and technologies that make it easier to build great apps at Grubhub. We define app architecture, create standard libraries and UI components, and build CI/CD tooling to help frontend engineers get their jobs done more quickly and with higher quality. The Impact You Will Make

• Actively contribute to the adoption of strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies. Our team's mission is to improve the process of building software; we'll need your help to do that.
• Design, implement, and test shared libraries for Web applications while understanding our products from both technical and business perspectives
• Break down complex problems into elegant technical solutions that are easy to use and understand

What You Bring to the Table

• 2+ years of experience building Web apps using a modern framework (React, Redux, and TypeScript preferred).
• Demonstrated skills in writing clear, correct, and performant code
• An understanding of the React app lifecycle and common design patterns for building and structuring apps from the data layer all the way up to the UI
• A working knowledge of writing concurrent software that consumes web services
• A passion for automated testing, with real-world experience building software with high test coverage..
• The ability to clearly communicate technical concepts in written form
• Experience building accessible components with a solid understanding of HTML and CSS
• The ability to monitor, debug, and resolve stability- and performance-related issues.
• College degree in Computer Science or a related field of study/equivalent experience

• Experience building micro-frontend web apps
• Experience building and maintaining reusable libraries in TypeScript/JavaScript
• Experience with common frontend development tools such as Webpack and Babel
• Experience building or maintaining web CI/CD pipelines
• Experience building software for other frontend platforms (Android, iOS)
• Fluency with a scripting language (shell, Python, Ruby, etc.)

NYC Salary Range: $141,000 - $211,000
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
