Software Engineer II (Full-Stack or Backend), Platform

About the Role
As the Platform team, it is our mission to provide the underlying foundational tooling and frameworks to unify the publisher experience across our product line, and ensure publishers thrive within our ecosystem of services. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work directly with Product Managers, Designers, Software Engineers, and Quality Assurance to develop new features and core functionality into the platform, all while ensuring the best customer experience for our publishers.
Boulder/Denver preferred. Open to remote in these states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, Texas and Washington.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Help content creators (publishers) make money and grow their businesses
- Lead projects and play an important role in preserving a free and open internet for our publishers by helping them be and remain independent
- Collaborate with Product and Design to create world-class customer experiences
- Design and develop the infrastructure and APIs that power our publisher-facing, microfrontend web portal
- Create React-based SPAs and RESTful Node APIs in the AWS cloud
- Build container (Docker/Kubernetes) and serverless (Lamba) microservices
- Work with multiple databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Apache Pinot, ScyllaDB/Cassandra)
- Mentor and level-up less experienced engineers (code reviews, paired programming, etc.)
- Level up your own skills and abilities by working with modern, cutting-edge technologies
About You
- 2+ years of relevant experience developing SPAs and RESTful APIs
- 2+ years of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS experience
- 2+ years of React (preferred) or equivalent frontend experience developing SPAs (Angular, Vue)
- 2+ years of Node (preferred) or equivalent backend experience developing web services (Java, Go, Python)
- 2+ years of RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (Pinot, ScyllaDB, Cassandra) database experience
- 1+ years of AWS (preferred) or equivalent cloud experience (GCP, Azure)
- Technologies: Cognito, Cloudfront, Lambda, EKS, ElastiCache (Redis), EventBridge, SNS, SQS, RDS, etc.
- Automated testing (Jest, React Testing Framework, Cypress) experience
- CI/CD frameworks and tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) experience
- GitHub (preferred) or equivalent version control system experience
- Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) experience
- Docker container experience a plus
- Kubernetes (preferred) or equivalent container orchestration experience (ECS, Swarm) a plus
- Experience with DevOps a plus
- AdTech experience a plus

Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for this role in Boulder, Colorado is $108,000 to $137,000, including base salary and any related bonuses or commissions. Final compensation for this role will be determined by factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
