Software Engineer III - DevOps / Java

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities

• Guides and assists others in the areas of building appropriate level designs and gaining consensus from peers where appropriate
• Collaborates with other software engineers and teams to design and implement deployment approaches using automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines
• Collaborates with other software engineers and teams to design, develop, test, and implement availability, reliability, scalability, and solutions in their applications
• Implements infrastructure, configuration, and network as code for the applications and platforms in your remit
• Collaborates with technical experts, key stakeholders, and team members to resolve complex problems
• Understands service level indicators and utilizes service level objectives to proactively resolve issues before they impact customers
• Supports the adoption of site reliability engineering best practices within your team
• Drive efficiency through automation of manual processes, deep dive into incidents and facilitate blameless post mortems.
• Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
• Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
• Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

• Formal training or certification on site reliability engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Experience in SRE engineering role for supporting highly available production systems in cloud environments (public and / or private)
• Experience with design and implementation of DevOps/SRE function implementing mature cloud DevOps and SRE best practices, supporting implementation and adoption of these standards
• Experience with enablement of monitoring and alerting tools and services for the applications build on prem-cloud, distributed microservice architecture
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages including core Java, Object Oriented Programming concepts, Spring, Spring Boot, Distributed Systems (microservice architecture), Containerized applications (docker/kubernetes), Event driven systems (kafka), Hibernate, RDBMS, SQL, (DB2 a major plus),
• Experience working across product and engineering teams to help define SRE standards, drive implementation of SRE approaches and best practices as well as experience in using specific SRE tools and services
• Experience with implementing processes and runbooks to meet and deliver service level objectives (SLOs) as well as implementing tools and capabilities to track and measure performance against these objectives

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud and related tools like RDS, Aurora PostreSQL, Key Management Services (KMS), OpenSearch, DataDog, CloudWatch
• AWS Certifications will be an added advantage
