  • Experience reading and writing in SQL.
  • Exposure to large-scale systems.

People shop on Google more than a billion times a day - and the Commerce team is responsible for building the experiences that serve these users. The mission for Google Commerce is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers - from inspiration to to a simple and secure checkout experience - and the best place for retailers/merchants to connect with consumers. We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today's digital world.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data pipelines in SQL, C++, and sometimes Go.
  • Work independently on larger parts of a bigger data engineering project.
  • Manage client expectations and timelines, including proposing short/long-term solutions with clear tradeoffs and plans for managing/removing tech debt with support from senior engineers.
  • Help clients with their data questions (for example by answering questions, or investigating perceived data quality issues).
  • Work together with the Metrics Infrastructure team to inform prioritization of infrastructure features that could increase velocity of data engineering work.
