Software Engineer Intern - Networking

Red Hat's Networking team is looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to gain hands-on experience with open source and Red Hat products during a summer internship to join us as a Co Op or Intern. As a technical intern in this role, you will learn about open source software development, automation of testing, continuous integration, continuous development. Packet movement, security, isolation, encryption, encapsulation. Containers and Virtual machines.

This internship is a 6 month Co-op - July-December 2024.

What you will do

• Work on linux networking in stack optimization via development and continuous testing.
• Work on integration with kubernetes
• Work on backporting patches from upstream linux to RH products

What you will bring

• C Language.
• Interest in networking
• Currently pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field;
• Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system (any distribution)
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• "Can-do" attitude

The following is considered a plus:

• Familiarity with GIT
• Linux networking stack
• Python
• Previous code contributions to or participation in open source projects or code samples on GitHub
