Software Engineer Intern/Co-Op
Remote in Boston, MA - Work from home. Candidate must be located in/near the Boston, MA area.

We built our Digital innovation Hub in downtown Boston and staffed the start-up with top talent from leading Boston eCommerce firms like BJs, Keurig, Sapient, Staples, Vistaprint and Wayfair. The Boston office has a broad mandate to drive the company’s digital capabilities and reports to our Boston-based Chief Digital Officer. This is a start-up opportunity to build digital capabilities from the ground up using a composable architecture with the latest technologies across the digital ecosystem
Dawn is looking to add a Software Engineer Intern/Co-Op to our team for a 6-month rotation to work hands-on with our eCommerce platform in a variety of roles and responsibilities. This role would be well suited to students following a course of study in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science or similar degree. This role reports to our Boston-based, Engineering Manager. The role will be mentored by a cross-functional group of Managers and SMEs and given the opportunity to present findings to the broader eCommerce team including Dawn’s Chief Digital Officer. This position will also offer the unique opportunity to own and present a complete end-to-end project utilizing all the skills learned during the Internship/Co-Op.
Role Responsibilities
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
- Collaborate with development, project, and product management teams to understand business requirements and timelines
- Lead development efforts to support the project
Requirements
- Must be enrolled and working towards BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathmatics or other similar degree
- Provide regular project status, updates to the business sponsors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Agile development processes
- OOP Languages: Java
- Web Services: SOAP, REST services, XML/XSL/XSD, GraphQL Server and Client
- Testing: Continuous integration and writing unit tests, set up and maintain DevOps tools
Preferred:
- Middleware: Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Nginx, or other major application server(s)
- Databases: MySQL
- Infra: Experience with GCP, infrastructure-as-code toolset
- Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
- Development Tools: Apache Maven, GitHub
- Environment: Experience with Linux/RHEL and Bash scripting
Compensation Range: $32,960-$49,450 annual non-exempt salary based on 2080 hours a year at the rate of $15.85-$23.77 per hour
