Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin) - Partner Tech (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

At Partner Tech - Assortment and Inbound, we are building and maintaining a broad array of services used by internal and external Partners to create and manage the assortment that will be offered in Zalando’s Fashion Store.

As a Senior Backend Engineer , you will be at the forefront of designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that underpin our platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders, to deliver robust and high-quality solutions.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING):

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using Java and Kotlin.

• Work with product managers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our backend systems.

• Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment.

• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.

• Collaborate with DevOps to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of applications.

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our systems.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF:

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on Java and Kotlin.

• Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

• Experience with RESTful API design and development.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the e-commerce industry, particularly within B2B contexts.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Knowledge of NoSQL databases.

• Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Understanding of Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA.
