ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services FAA NAS ESS contract. Join our growing team as a Software Engineer in support of the Weather Systems group at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).
Responsibilities:
- Research, design, development, testing, evaluation and maintenance of integrated computer hardware and software systems
- Support the assessment and monitoring of modifications to systems within the Weather Systems group; integration of new equipment, software, and firmware in the NAS; management of high security networks; and facilitating remediation activities.
- Provides support to ensure assigned NAS systems comply with agency ISS standards and policies within the scheduled milestones
- Provides analytical and technical security recommendations to other team members
- Support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) initiatives and activities associated with assessing risk and providing recommendations to prevent National Airspace Systems (NAS) and Non-NAS systems from unauthorized access or sabotage, and enhancing the stability of those systems to survive security threats in an operational environment.
- Development of security authorization/ISCM packages for information systems
- Develop status reports and other documents to support management and remediation processes.
- Provide systems security-related support for the Weather Systems Team (AJW-1410)
- Provide support utilizing languages such as C, C++, and Python
- Provide scripting support using Perl, Shell, etc.
Requirements
- Proficient in programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python)
- Experience with cloud based cybersecurity including the implementation and management of controls according to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
- The preferred candidate will be detail oriented with the ability to both work independently and on a team environment.
- Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation
- Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required)
- Familiarity with CISSP, CISA, and Security+, related fundamentals
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the importance of testing during all phases of the software development process
- Proficiency with computer operating systems, software and hardware with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits, and testing.
- Working knowledge of UNIX and UNIX-like Operating Systems (AIX, Linux)
