Software Engineer (Platform/DevOps)
Job Description
Floodbase (formerly known as Cloud to Street) is a top climate tech start-up and the world’s leading remote flood analytics platform. We use global satellites, AI, models, and community intelligence to monitor flood risk and flooding in real-time. Seeded by Google, our paradigm-shifting science made the cover of Nature and is the base for our proprietary technology. Today, governments across almost 20 countries have used our platform for disaster relief and to protect over 300 million people. We launched the first commercial parametric flood insurance product to protect climate-vulnerable communities.
Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to own and iterate broadly on our software platform, including our scalable imagery ingestion pipelines and the micro service architecture that powers our internal workflows and external product offerings. As part of a small engineering team, you will provide key input on technical design decisions and participate in a variety of different engineering products. A key part of this role will be contributing to DevOps features like continuous integration, deployment and monitoring, so experience in this area will be strongly preferred.Â
Who you are
- 1+ years of experience as a software engineer working in a team environmentÂ
- Experience deploying and monitoring cloud infrastructure, preferably in GCP
- Experience building distributed, asynchronous microservices and data pipelines in the cloud
- Experience bootstrapping efficient internal software development processes with a focus on comprehensive testing
- Excellent in Python, comfortable in many programming languages
- Strong opinions on system design choices with awareness of tradeoffs
- Eager to design and implement future-proofed systems
- Eager to empower other team members’ success
- Eager to use engineering to reduce the impact of catastrophic flooding
Responsibilities
- Design and develop full stack features (FastAPI/Angular) to support crisis managers around the world in disaster preparedness and response
- Provide key input in technical discussions and code reviews for engineers across the company
- Develop and maintain the cloud infrastructure to support our products

Salary Range
Floodbase offers competitive salaries with regular reviews and adjustments based on performance and industry standards. The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience with an expected range of $100,000 - $120,000.
This position is based out of our New York City office but remote work is possible for the right candidate.
