Software Engineer - Reference Data (Java/SQL)

THE TEAM

We are looking for a seasoned engineer to build and maintain the system that produces essential reference data that is critical for most systems throughout Virtu: trading systems quantitative research systems and back office systems.

THE ROLE

• Aggregate validate enrich and distribute big datasets from many big data vendors (Bloomberg LSEG)
• Build test implement and maintain various databases and API
• Architect custom software solutions for business stakeholders to improve daily management and evaluation of data across the firm
• Support large-scale migrations for global multi-asset data
• Monitor day-to-day operation of the production system
• Perform proactive and reactive system maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• At least 5 years of enterprise-level distributed systems experience in Java

• Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL Oracle RDBMS)

• Interest in trading and financial markets

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

• Previous experience working within the financial services industry (exposure to trading systems is a plus)
• Experience working on large data with Python
• Knowledge of HBase Hadoop or other cloud storage
• Understanding of Linux environment
• Experience with SVN or Git

Salary Range: $175000 - $200000 (salary range is exclusive of bonuses benefits or other categories of compensation)
