Position Summary
DarkStar Intelligence seeks a Software Engineer to apply systems engineering principles across the system life cycle phases, including Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement. The role involves direct interaction with the Government to address technical considerations and resolve issues, ensuring the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work and deliverables across multiple process areas defined by ISO/IEC 15288. Responsibilities include stakeholder requirements definition, requirements analysis, architectural design, implementation, integration, verification, transition, validation, operation, maintenance, and disposal, as well as project planning, assessment, control, decision management, risk management, configuration management, information management, measurement, project portfolio management, infrastructure management, lifecycle model management, human resource management, quality management, acquisition, and supply. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with senior executives are essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply systems engineering principles across all system life cycle phases: Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement.
- Interact with Government stakeholders regarding technical considerations and resolve associated problems, issues, or conflicts.
- Communicate effectively with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
- Ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed and deliverables associated with the 25 process areas defined by ISO/IEC 15288, including:
- Technical Process Areas: Stakeholder Requirements Definition, Requirements Analysis, Architectural Design, Implementation, Integration, Verification, Transition, Validation, Operation, Maintenance, and Disposal.
- Project Process Areas: Project Planning, Project Assessment and Control, Decision Management, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Information Management, and Measurement.
- Enterprise Process Areas: Project Portfolio Management, Infrastructure Management, Lifecycle Model Management, Human Resource Management, and Quality Management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Security Clearance: Current Top Secret/SCI with Fullscope Polygraph.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (Note 1) or a related discipline (Note 2) from an accredited college or university, plus ten (10) years of systems engineering experience.
- OR a High School Diploma or GED, plus fourteen (14) years of general systems engineering experience (any process area).
- OR a Master's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field (Note 1) or a related discipline (Note 2) from an accredited college or university, plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience.
- OR a PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field (Note 1) or a related discipline (Note 2) from an accredited college or university, plus eight (8) years of systems engineering experience.
- Note 1: Examples of qualified engineering fields include Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management.
- Note 2: Examples of related disciplines include Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.
Desired Qualification:
- Conduct systems engineering activities and contribute to the preparation of work products in Technical Process Areas as defined by ISO/IEC 15288.
- Develop and deliver work products in any of the ISO/IEC 15288 Process Areas.
- Perform technical analysis of project alternatives and provide preliminary recommendations.
- Assist in systems engineering activities within the ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
- Prepare multiple work products in Project and/or Technical Process Areas associated with ISO/IEC 15288 processes.
- Develop and deliver work products across each of the ISO/IEC 15288 Project and Technical Process Areas.
- Independently analyze and recommend alternatives for technical design elements of projects.
- Contribute to systems engineering activities and develop deliverables in ISO/IEC 15288 Agreement or Enterprise Process Areas.
- Assist in creating innovative approaches to technical or engineering challenges.
- Participate in evaluations to assess suitability for project implementation.
- Analyze and recommend appropriate engineering standards and processes for projects.
- Supervise or coordinate the work of other contractor engineers or technicians on projects.
