Department Overview

This internship is for the Summer 2024. This is a full-time internship (40 hrs/week), and is located at UIUC Research Park in Champaign, IL. Only UIUC students are eligible to apply. Strong preference will be given to rising senior candidates interested in full-time employment at Motorola Solutions after their May 2025 graduation.
Job Description

Motorola Solutions is looking for full stack software developers to work on all aspects of application development during their summer internship, including:

• Front-end development using a number of frameworks (React/Angular/Flutter),

• Data storage and retrieval using both SQL, NoSQL and Graph databases,

• GraphQL and REST APIs,

• Backend tech stacks based on Python, GO and javascript, and

• Cloud-based devops pipeline development.

Motorola Solutions is looking for candidates with strong interests in cloud computing, microservices-based application development and container-based software deployment and orchestration.

Candidates are expected to work in a team environment utilizing the latest industry standard agile practices for planning, implementing, and delivering products and services.

• Candidates will be differentiated by their experience in the following skillsets:

- Fullstack development, including:

• React/Typescript/Javascript or other front end framework experience
• HTML/CSS
• Node.js
• SQL and NoSQL databases
• Python-based backend tech stacks

- Cloud devops, especially on Microsoft Azure

Desired Skills:

● Experience with team software development using Agile practices

● Experience with microservices-based software architecture and containerization

● Experienced with cloud-based DevOps methodologies and processes.

● Strong communication and problem solving skills

Basic Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering (CS, CS+, CE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is required.

• Must gradute on or after December 2024.

• Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students)
