Software Engineer Team Lead

About the Role
We are looking for a talented, energic and experienced Software Engineer Team Lead to join a squad for the core platform. In this role, you will lead development squad to apply best practice in development cycles and to maintain a reliable and secure platform with high performance. You understood how to ship high quality software and can make correct trade-offs between perfection and delivery. You have dealt with complexity and large code bases and have developed strategies for tackling them. You also enjoy working with technical teams on complex problems and are always looking to improve yourself and others around you. This position is based in our Toronto office.
Job Responsibilities

• Build well designed, well-engineered, stable, scalable platform to support advisor and wealth management firms
• Engage good Agile practices (using JIRA) including test-driven development and continuous integration.
• Solve Advisor's problems with technology, understanding market chaos at work and crafting technically appropriate interactive experiences to communicate effectively with Advisor and Individual investors.
• Analyze and remediate production issues and build instrumentation and operational readiness into the systems architecture.
• Work with both UI framework, backend APIs and Data storages (full Stack)
• Mentoring junior members of team.
• Stay up to date on emerging technologies.
• Promote usability and coding best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Solid programming background (7+ years' experience) with C++, C#.Net or Java.
• Experience working with Amazon Web Services
• Experience working with large software systems.
• Experience with professional software build, test and deploy practices.
• Understanding of what makes software supportable, scalable and attractive to users.
• Knowledge of investment vehicles including stock, bond, managed investments and investment transactions.
• Good communication skills.
• Good organization skills.
• Good teamwork attitude.

Nice to Have

• Financial knowledge, especially in portfolio management and analysis.
