Software Engineer, Technical Escalations Group
Job Description
As an NS1 Software Engineer in the Technical Escalation Group (T.E.G), you will work in partnership with the SRE’s on the T.E.G.team to make our products more reliable. In conjunction you will work with our product development teams to address and solve the root causes of issues that come into support. You will also assist our customer service, professional service, and solution engineering teams with analyzing problems and assisting development teams with solving bugs. Additional tasks include adding to our knowledge base documentation and teaching diagnostic and problem-solving skills to other team members. This team works with many different parts of the company, including the engineering, qa, dev-ops and IT organization. You will be sharing knowledge and learning from those teams and help route issues to the right places.
We’re looking for an autodidact who can immerse themselves in our platform immediately, leveraging existing technical strengths and teaching themselves the systems that are new to them. You should have broad knowledge of the technologies in modern infrastructure operations and automation and be able to offer constructive advice for improvements while using and scaling the systems in our existing platform. You’ll take responsibility for the quality of your code, and your daily work will have an immediate company-wide impact.

Ideally, you’ll bring:- Strong Go knowledge
- Strong experience in Docker
- Experience working with Postgres
- Strong experience around infrastructure automation
- Excellent UNIX and networking knowledge
- Expertise in troubleshooting and performance tuning of complex, high-traffic, distributed applications
- Ability to design with modern internet infrastructure operation in mind, including metrics, logging, observability, automation, etc
- Extra kudos for Python knowledge, layer 4-7 load balancing experience, linux kernel tuning, user-space networking
- Strong operational knowledge of networking, distributed systems and security
- Proficiency with Linux
- Operating and building containerized applications using Docker
- Proficient in scripting languages
- Hands on experience with configuration management tools and infrastructure as code
- Ability to collaborate with developers to design modern internet infrastructure for operability, including metrics, logging, observability, automation, etc.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and performance tuning of complex, high-traffic, distributed applications
- Experience with major cloud providers
- Troubleshooting, bug scoping and good problem solving skills
- Performance and scalability testing
