Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring for the following role in Cambridge, MA (multiple openings): Software Engineer. Principal Lead. Design and develop security applications, processes, and APIS that scale to meet security and performance demands of Akamai's customer base. Extend current security technologies and integrate new capabilities into the Akamai security platform. Plan applications with a solid understanding of how they will fit within a complex distributed environment. Identify potential risks that expose customers to vulnerabilities or impact application stability. Stay current with trends in web application development and security trends/threats in order to communicate and apply that knowledge to engineering projects. Effectively communicate and work with teammates and other stakeholders across the company to build consensus around proposed solutions. Maintain high level of technical credibility based on up-to-date design and implementation principles. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the United States. [AG0398]

Required Qualification:

Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Systems, Information System Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Telecommunications Engineering, and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or closely related software engineering role.

Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Systems, Information System Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Telecommunications Engineering, plus 6 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related software engineering role.

Must Have: Two (2) years of experience in the following: Web Application and Services Development; Oracle; Model View Controller Architecture; Internet Protocols and Concepts (IP, TCP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS); Dependency Injection; ORM; Ajax; Junit; XML; JSON; Javascript; and software architecture.

Compensation:

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $157643 - $238744/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
