SPECIALTY HEALTH IT - Software Engineering Advisor - Reporting

Position Overview:

Software Engineering Advisor will work on a team of truly talented individuals and be responsible for design and build of Specialty Care Central reporting applications and its components that interface with complex enterprise systems and external vendor systems. The engineer will have solid knowledge of working with complex distributed applications, mainframe, VSAM, DB2 and Business Objects and have a passion for technologies by solving data integration challenges.

Engineer should be highly motivated, a self-starter and a well-rounded team player who works best in a collaborative and agile environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as an individual in this role will actively work with remote scrum teams, business owners, enterprise architects, security and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and enhance existing Dental reporting applications and generate dental reports.
• Leverage existing tools, third party components/libraries, and commercial software to design and develop robust enterprise reporting solutions.
• Mentality towards integrating and reusing existing capabilities vs building from scratch is highly desired.
• Participate in all agile ceremonies effectively.
• Act as mentor and technical guide to mid and lower level analysts.
• Ability to pick up new concepts and technology rapidly; able to explain it to both business & IT stakeholders.

Required Experience / Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills.
• Experience with mainframe development and reporting, including CICS, DB2 and VSAM.
• Experience querying relational databases (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, Hadoop Hive, or equivalent).
• Expertise in Business Objects.
• Ability to work in Scrum & Kanban based Agile teams and practice Agile methodologies and ceremonies.

Desired Experience / Qualifications:

• Data Integration (batch, real-time) following Enterprise Integration Patterns.
• Relational Database Oracle and Data Modeling,
• Database development & tuning (PL/SQL).
• Knowledge of reporting/BI tools such as Business Objects and Tableau.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred, typically eight or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of five years' experience in application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
