Software Engineering Associate

The Software Engineer typically performs coding, defect fixing and testing tasks independently and is not typically involved in technical designs yet, understands how requirements map to designs, and how designs map to implementation.
The candidate will ask pertinent questions to the internal team and communicate effectively verbally, via chat, and/or email.
The candidate must have experience developing applications from the ground up in a Java environment and must have a sound grasp of development best practices and system architecture. The successful candidate will be responsible for high quality and high performing implementation and will need strong debugging skills working in a fast paced, iterative development environment.
Required Skills:

• This title requires the ability to organize and prioritize one's own schedule based on input from various project leads. Understanding of standard SW project life-cycle is a must.
• Strong Java development skills, including core Java (Java 8), Spring, and JUnit and other open source frameworks
• Web service experience, including knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML/JSON
• Expertise with SCM & Build tools (Jira, Maven, Jenkins, Git, SONAR)
• Strong foundation in Object Oriented Programming and Design Principles (OOP / OOD) as well as state-machine based architecture
• Use of software engineering best practices such as design review, code review, unit testing, software quality metrics, and re-factoring
• Hands on experience in designing and developing large applications
• Excellent communication, organizational, collaboration skills and Problem-solving ability
• Experience with JavaScript, Angular JS
• Understanding of security principles in software development

Preferred Qualifications:
Previously has spent at least 1+ year as an Associate Software Engineer or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge of CTI (Avaya or Cisco)
• Exposure to usage metrics and analytics
• Exposure to Containers, Docker, Kubernetes
• Exposure to Cloud, AWS or Cloud Foundry.
• Exposure to Microservices architecture

Education:

• At least a BA / BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS) or Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field
