Reporting & Analytics Software Engineering Data Analyst

We are looking for a Data/System Analyst, preferably with enterprise cloud experience. You will be part of building a green field financial application that processes high volume and high value transactions between our supply side trading partners all the way to fulfilling our financial obligations with our clients and partners. Candidate must be team oriented and have interpersonal skills, as the existing team values productive collaboration to enable high output and good business value. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous issues. Effectively communicates to individuals at all levels of the technical and business communities. Develops a strong affiliation with the requirements, technology solution and operational readiness organizations, including the ability to use, share, contribute and influence the appropriate artifacts, approach and best-practices used to build enterprise-scale solutions.

Technical knowledge, business acumen and experience is a basic requirement for this kind of role. The Engineer also needs to be tactful and diplomatic to maintain a good working relationship with the software engineers, business SMEs, analyst peers across multiple teams. Includes:

Technologies:

  • Knowledge of modern, cloud-hosted reporting and dashboarding tools and applications
  • Database, ETL knowledge and advanced query skills for SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with some of the following technologies (S3, Ec2, Redshift database, Dynamo DB, Glue, Tableau, Cognos)
  • Familiarity with AWS, cloud native application development, EC/EMR, and cloud data storage and access
  • Experience with DevOps and CICD technologies
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business, technology, engineering teams to understand the data & sourcing needs, develop design documents to help the data architecture team with technical designs to build reporting and analytical capabilities for our business stakeholders
  • Responsible for eliciting, elaborating, and documenting data and analytics requirements. Drives analysis and JAD sessions as necessary. Creates logical source to target mappings to describe data flow and logic
  • Responsible for making sure the business use cases has all the requirements well written before work can be ingested for data analysis and data source mappings
  • Proactively work with upstream application and data provider partners to resolve dependencies to support the design and delivery of medium to large scale integrated solutions
  • Proficient at assembling, analyzing, evaluating data from legacy code base utilizing data mining techniques making well-reasoned recommendations and next steps
  • Query datasets from various data sources and perform ad-hoc data analysis
  • Utilize collaboration tools and documentation of analysis to ensure consistency, correctness and completeness of data requirements
  • Work on a software engineering team using agile methodologies
