Software Engineering Manager

We’re looking for a strong leader to build and manage a new team of early career engineers. In this role, you'll work closely with them, showing them how to deliver features effectively and teaching them the ins and outs of Ruby on Rails, especially as it applies to our debt negotiation platform. This position is a hybrid one, with three days a week based in our Chicago Loop office, where you will mentor, collaborate with, and inspire your team.

You’ll play a key role in setting the technical goals and strategy for delivering our consumer products. Our organization values clear communication, transparency, and collaboration. We drive progress by small iterations and reflecting on how we can best work together.

• Design and execute a recruiting strategy to build up a new diverse and inclusive engineering team
• Collaborate closely with the analytics team to lead various projects.
• Lead architectural decisions and roadmap delivery for web & lead API acquisition efforts
• Work with the leadership team to produce and deliver the engineering roadmap
• Mentor engineers and sponsor them for the right projects to deliver the best product while growing their skillset
• Identify and promote engineering best practices
• Advise leadership team on technical feasibility and implications of product decisions

• Experience managing engineering teams with a variety of skill levels
• 5+ years of experience building and deploying scalable applications in the cloud
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, and PostgreSQL. 
• Expertise in scoping large projects and initiatives into small iterations for release
• Clear and efficient communication skills
• Mentorship skills and the ability to give well-crafted constructive feedback
• Experience in a startup environment is not required but preferred
