Software Engineering Manager

Software Engineering Manager (Smith & Nephew, Inc., Andover, MA): Architect, design and prototype software applications and real time software applications for use in digital video endoscopy products to meet customer needs, manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, effectiveness, and usability. Perform design control functions to ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, and other QSRs. Responsible for writing product specifications, design/test documents in addition to conducting technical design reviews as needed. Conduct hands-on technical leadership in the development of medical device software, encompassing digital image acquisition and processing, computer vision, video streaming, and connectivity with web servers, mobile devices, and hospital information systems. Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field plus 10 years of experience in the job offered or related role in the medical imaging industry. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field plus 8 years of experience in the job offered or related role in the medical imaging industry.

Of the required experience, must have 8 years of experience in each of the following:
• Analysis, design, and debugging of software systems, particularly embedded or mobile software. • Full-product life cycle experience, having released products on the market.• Integrating diverse equipment, open source, and 3rd party modules.

Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
• Software development and debugging in C, C++ or Python.• High-level software architecture.• Object-oriented design patterns.• Digital image processing, computer vision, or video streaming.• Interfacing with medical imaging systems using the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standard.• FDA Good Manufacturing Practice.• Documentation using Design Controls in a medical device quality management system.
