The Opportunity:ÂThis role reports to a Director of Engineering. Engineering Managers at Paperless Parts are both highly technical engineering leaders as well as effective people managers. As a player coach, a portion of your time will be dedicated to helping your direct reports grow and the rest of your time will be spent providing technical leadership.

You are an individual who is passionate about helping others succeed. You’ve mentored junior members of your team before and get a sense of accomplishment watching them grow into successful engineers. Additionally, you have a strong technical foundation and can help the team move forward on project challenges. Finally, all leaders at Paperless Engineering are expected to lead with empathy. This means that you have developed an intuition on when to push and when to support your engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, mentor, manage, and grow a team of engineers
- Work across engineering teams and partner closely with product managers to deliver on business and technology goals
- Create an engineering culture that supports innovation, creativity, and diversity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
- Ensure engineering excellence and rigor in architecture, execution, and delivery through technical design reviews and code reviews
- Partner with other engineering managers to ensure a consistent approach to managing our teams
- Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability
- Perform regular performance reviews and give regular feedback to your reports
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 5+ years of development experience
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership capacity, e.g. Architect, Team Lead, or Manager
- Strong understanding of software development best practices
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and team building skills.
- Experience working in SAAS software development
- Knowledge of python and/or javascript preferred
- Knowledge of AWS and its services preferred

The office has an open floor plan with several conference rooms to encourage collaboration with your colleagues in California and TV's to connect with those sitting in Boston or remotely. The office is walking distance from Downtown Encinitas, the Coaster train stop, and tons of activities on the 101.
