We are first and foremost a software company. Our products empower the people who serve the public across the United States. Our eSolutions business unit is seeking an additional leader to help continue building upon our market leading court case electronic filing solutions to create efficiencies in working with the courts.

We employ a highly collaborative teamwork approach, and our leaders remain highly involved to make sure we are looking beyond just another project. In this role, you will lead a multi-discipline team to deliver solutions in concert with peer teams in support of a unified product vision. You will work in a dynamic and challenging environment utilizing an agile development methodology to deliver increased value to the courts, numerous partners that integrate with our systems, legal professionals, and citizens who depend upon the courts to resolve issues every day.

Responsibilities

  • As a leader, you will oversee all aspects of software development. Your team will consist of professionals in analysis, engineering, quality assurance and/or automation engineering, some of which may be remote.
  • Your team will interact with peer groups such as architecture, operations, and other product teams.
  • Our systems handle all types of court cases (Civil, Domestic, Criminal, etc.), so a smart leader will need to learn about the varying business implications of each.
  • Our systems integrate with numerous other systems, so you will need to maintain backward compatibility and drive change management.
  • Cloud technology is driving a dramatic acceleration of innovation in software solutions. You will maintain familiarity with these trends and drive your teams to adopt best practices.
  • Lead project design and effort estimation sessions, challenging your team to discern how to be successful in both the near term and the long term.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the prioritization of projects within the team.
  • Facilitate code reviews, pair programming sessions, and other means to directly coach your technical staff.
  • Work with peers to balance development roadmap projects vs. escalation of operational issues.
  • Contribute to a strategy of year-over-year improvement to the product and evolution of the underlying platform.
  • Identify and implement Key Performance Indicators for measuring and improving team effectiveness.
  • Communicate and drive internal work to meet deliverables.
  • Coach your team for employee growth and development.
  • Perform staff evaluations.
  • Recruit, onboard, and evaluate technical resources
  • Recommend and contributes to process improvement initiatives including but not limited to product enhancements, internal/external education, and processes.
  • Commit to expanding your technological skills and maintaining advanced knowledge of the eSolutions products.
Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Recent experience as a full stack software engineer
  • Modern web development familiarity such HTML5, Angular, Vue, or React
  • .Net development experience
  • Experience with SQL and XML are required
  • Understanding of various API technologies such as WCF, SOAP, and REST
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native programming; preferably in AWS
  • You should value deadlines and regularly complete work on time
  • You should be a strong problem solver
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and customer service
  • Adept at requirements gathering and analysis
  • Ability to negotiate and partner internally and externally
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including requirements elicitation and presentation of proposed solutions
  • Communicate well with technical and non-technical customers
  • Knowing facets of the courts beyond e-Filing is a bonus.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership-oriented software position.
  • A solid understanding of SDLC principles and methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Agile experience required.
  • Scrum Master certification preferred.
  • Ability to make sound, effective and timely decisions along with the ability to solve problems involving complex issues.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical ability, particularly in a technical environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
