Software Engineering Manager

What you'll do :

• Design, implement, deliver, and maintain applications and features for Zipcar members, customer support, and administrators.
• Conduct insightful code reviews and teach junior engineers how to review effectively.
• Use modern tooling for rapid development, integrated testing, and high performance.
• Work closely with product designers, product managers and quality engineers to turn requirements and design documents into elegant code and delightful user experience.
• Provide ongoing guidance and feedback to your direct reports to improve their effectiveness. Perform weekly one-on-one meetings, quarterly reviews and annual reviews. Interview engineering candidates and coach interviewers.

What drives success for this role:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field or foreign equivalent, and 3 years of software engineering experience in a progressively higher role.
• 2 years of demonstrated experience in code reviewing, web services written in JDK languages (Java, Groovy, Kotlin), modern front-end technologies (React, Angular), databases (MongoDB, Postgres, Cassandra), service-oriented architectures and message systems, functional, unit and integration testing, and a variety of Web APIs such as Twilio, AWS, Stripe and any other required Web APIs; and one (1) year of technical and leadership and mentoring experience.
