Software Engineering Manager

This is a hybrid role for our Wakefield, MA office.

The Purpose of Your Role:

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team and oversee all software engineering and automation efforts for the company. The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for both people management and technical management of applications and solutions. The successful candidate will have strong people management skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, while also having the technical ability to develop technical designs and architectures.

What you'll bring to Sentinel:

• Expertise in leading software engineering teams using modern software engineering technologies
• Ability to build, foster and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including internal customers, vendors and team members.
• Strong technical skills in software development, testing and deployment

What you’ll be responsible for:

• Possess a deep understanding of software engineering principles, best practices and industry trends.
• Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to a team of software engineers and automation engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as business analysts and infrastructure, to ensure effective software development and support processes.
• Assist the CTO and Project Manager to plan, prioritize, and manage software development projects from conception to delivery.
• Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Allocate resources, track progress, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Continuously evaluate and improve software development processes, tools and methodologies.
• Fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork and continuous learning.

About you: 

We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive Software Engineering Manager who has the drive, determination, and skill-set to lead Sentinel’s software engineering efforts. The organization’s technology posture is constantly changing and in much need of evolution of technologies and ideas.

Preferred qualifications:

• At least 3 years of related experience as a Software Engineering Manager
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage 5+ software engineers.
• Fluent in software development processes (SDLC)
• Strong and proven leadership and people management skills
• Proven ability to work effectively with multiple project stakeholders (Business analysts, Project Managers, Business unit stakeholders, Infrastructure, Helpdesk etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools and processes.
